My idea is to create an app to help students widen their range of vocabulary and find joy in learning.
With the emphasis on learning vocabulary, the app consists of a teaching video, followed by 2 mini games to assess their understanding of the usage. Firstly, the teaching video will highlight Mandarin pinyin pronunciation, explanation, collocation (词语搭配) and example sentence (造句) of the vocabularies. Then, there will be 2 mini games: first game will require students to find the correct collocation: as vocabularies drop down as apples, they are to catch the correct one into their basket within a time limit. Scores will be awarded based on the number of questions answered within time limit. A summary of the questions answered will be showed to them when they get their scoring. Students can play this game repeatedly to deepen their impression of the collocation of the vocabularies.
